On the occasion of the Liberation Holidays, the Syrian Ophthalmological Society organized a scientific symposium on glaucoma and optic nerve disorders at the auditorium of Idlib University Hospital on Friday, 19/12/2025.
The symposium featured an advanced scientific level, presented by colleagues through valuable lectures across three scientific sessions. It witnessed a large attendance of specialists and residents from various Syrian governorates, who came to benefit from the scientific content and to meet colleagues from Idlib and other regions.
Sincere thanks to the Board of Directors of the society, chairman and members, for their efforts in preparing this symposium. Special thanks also to Idlib University, Idlib University Hospital, and the Ophthalmology Department for their support and contribution to the success of this event.

From HAMAH city, the third Eye and Diabetes Symposium was concluded on 14/11/2025.
The opening session included a speech by the President of the Syrian Ophthalmological Society, DR. ANAS AL-JORD, in which he welcomed the attendees and emphasized the importance of supporting science and continuing the scientific and practical journey. The symposium was attended by members of the Board of Directors: DR. SAFWAN AL-HAJ HUSSEIN, DR. MUNIR ATTAALLAH, DR. RAMEZ AL-TAWASHI, DR. NADIM ZAHLUK, and DR. SANAA ABBAS.
A large number of ophthalmologists from various Syrian governorates, both specialists and residents, also attended. DR. JIHAD AL-KHATIB, an endocrinology specialist, participated with a joint lecture on the relationship between diabetes and eye diseases.
The accompanying exhibition was inaugurated, with the participation of a large number of pharmaceutical and medical equipment companies. The sponsoring companies were then honored by the Board of Directors of the society. The symposium also included a lunch reception for the doctors overlooking the Al-Nawaeer.
We look forward to meeting again soon at upcoming symposia and conferences.
